There are reports Maurizio Sarri has requested Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo for Lazio, with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic going the other way.

Sarri was in charge at Juve when Arthur was preparing the move from Barcelona in an exchange with Miralem Pjanic, then fired midway through negotiations, but the Brazilian has struggled to make an impact in Turin under Andrea Pirlo.

He had several injury problems, limiting the 24-year-old to 32 competitive appearances for the Bianconeri this season.

According to Il Bianconero editor Marcello Chirico, Sarri wants to be reunited with Arthur in his new role as coach of Lazio.

The player is not part of Max Allegri’s plans, so there could be a possible exchange with Milinkovic-Savic, who has long been on the Juve radar.

While Arthur’s transfer market value is circa €60m, the Serbian would be worth €70-80m, so the deal could be done in a straight swap with small cash sum added on.

Milinkovic-Savic’s contract with Lazio runs to June 2024.
