Agent Federico Pastorello warns that while Fiorentina do have an option to buy Arthur Melo at the end of the season, he could also return to Juventus or move elsewhere.

The former Barcelona midfielder struggled in Turin and made no impact during a loan spell at Liverpool last term either, as injuries continued to torment him.

However, the Brazilian seems to have rediscovered his form and confidence at the Stadio Artemio Franchi under coach Vincenzo Italiano.

“Fiorentina had courage in listening to my insistent calls to think about this player, because it was by no means an easy decision after the season he had at Liverpool with an injury that lasted longer than expected,” Pastorello told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I was certain that he would do well here, because Italiano’s tactical ideas are perfect for the way Arthur interprets his role. I also thought the environment in Florence would be ideal for him, as it is an important club, but also a family atmosphere.”

As part of the loan agreement, Fiorentina also have an option to buy Arthur Melo outright for a further €20m.

“It’s only November, so there is a long way to go until the end of the season. There is a release clause, but that was only put there to give Fiorentina the option of signing him. However, Arthur has very high wages and that provides problems.

“At the end of the campaign, we will sit down and calmly see what is to be done. The important thing right now is that Arthur is happy and so are Fiorentina.”

If he was prepared to take a pay cut, would Arthur like to make his move to Fiorentina a permanent one?

“It is premature to talk about that. I will not exclude any scenario for the end of the season.”

He was purchased from Barcelona by Juventus in the summer of 2020 for €80m, although much of that was in a straight swap with Miralem Pjanic.
