Arthur Cabral’s father thanks Fiorentina and confirms he has already agreed a switch to Benfica. ‘The transfer was confirmed today.’

There were multiple reports today including Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia noting it was a move worth €20m plus another €5m in performance-related bonuses.

“He is very happy, Benfica are a team who will challenge for the title, so he has a great opportunity to become champion of Portugal,” Cabral’s father Helio told Antena 1 and Fiorentinanews.com.

“It is a great team, I am very proud. I hope he will do well and be the hitman he always has been. Arthur told me the news yesterday, he had already agreed everything with Benfica and today the transfer was confirmed.

“We must thank Fiorentina for everything. This is football, one day you are here, the next you are somewhere else. We are cheering them on to have a great season.

“Arthur will give his all and help Benfica in any way possible with determination and effort. He will honour the shirt.”

The 25-year-old Brazilian made the move to Fiorentina from FC Basel in January 2022 for €15.5m as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus.

He found the net 17 times with two assists in 48 competitive games for the Viola last season, helping them reach the Final of both the Coppa Italia and the Europa Conference League.

Fiorentina have already found Cabral’s heir, because they have struck a deal with River Plate for Lucas Beltran at a cost of €20m.

They are also in advanced negotiations with Spezia for Angola international M’Bala Nzola, who is expected to arrive for €10m plus performance-related bonuses.

  1. Wow, last season he was saying that Cabral is better than Vlahovic and he wouldn’t sell him less than what Vlahovic was sold for…
