Paris Saint-Germain have frozen talks for Victor Osimhen, allowing Arsenal to emerge and open a new round of talks with Napoli, reports suggest.

The Parisian giants were seriously interested in setting up a deal for the Nigerian striker but were keen to obtain a discount on his €130m release clause, drawing up an offer worth around €90m, which was firmly rejected by Aurelio De Laurentiis.

PSG are still keen on Osimhen but are not prioritising a deal at this stage, needing to decide what to do with Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos. Napoli are waiting to sell the Nigerian forward so they can welcome Chelsea exile Romelu Lukaku, who is waiting to link up with Antonio Conte.

Arsenal and Chelsea return for Osimhen

Page nine of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Arsenal and Chelsea have both been in contact with Napoli in recent days to open a new round of talks for Osimhen, obtaining information as they ponder over a possible move.

The Gunners are interested in a deal but are currently focused on snapping up Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres. The Blues would be happy to welcome the Nigerian forward, but his hefty salary and costs make him an unlikely option as they look to control their wage bill.

  1. Arsenal will not pay more than £55 million as a down payment for any striker. So unless a swap deal can be made then a deal is off the table.
