Inter receive double bad news from Arsenal for Folarin Balogun, as the Gunners rejected an offer from AS Monaco, meaning the price-tag won’t drop yet.

The Nerazzurri have made him their primary priority for the role of centre-forward after missing out on targets including Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku and West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, with the Italian set to join Atalanta today.

They have made it clear that they cannot afford the €50m price-tag, but were hoping that it would drop to €35-40m by the end of the summer.

According to The Athletic, Monaco made a formal proposal for Balogun and that was rejected by Arsenal.

It does not specify how much Monaco offered, but it does mean there is strong competition and that the Premier League side are sticking to their guns when it comes to valuation.

The 22-year-old has one goal in two senior caps for the USMNT and spent last season on loan at Stade Reims.
