Arsenal are again trying to bring in a centre-forward from Serie A and this time they might actually have a chance with Hellas Verona striker Giovanni Simeone.

The Gunners have been linked with numerous hitmen from the Peninsula over the last few transfer sessions, including Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Gianluca Scamacca, but are never at the top of their lists.

Now Tuttomercatoweb suggest their latest target is Argentina international Simeone.

He turns 27 next month and scored 17 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Verona this season, along with six assists.

Hellas have an option to buy him outright from Cagliari for €12m after this loan and will activate that before selling him on at a profit.

They are asking for circa €20m to part with Cholito, the son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego, though Juventus are also believed to be interested in his services should they fail to keep Alvaro Morata.

Simeone has been in Italy since 2016, playing with varying degrees of success for Genoa, Fiorentina, Cagliari and Hellas Verona, scoring 67 goals in 215 Serie A appearances.
