Juventus CEO of the Football Area Maurizio Arrivabene discusses the Champions League game with Malmo, but also warns against ‘trials by media’ amid the plusvalenze investigation.

It kicks off at 17.45 GMT at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

A victory here and Chelsea failing to pick up all three points away to Zenit would see Juventus take the top spot in this group and in theory get an easier draw in the Round of 16.

However, Arrivabene warned that is not necessarily the case.

“Obviously, we are playing an important game that could give us first place in the group, but regardless the moment we get through the group stage, the draw is going to be extremely difficult anyway. It’s a whole new phase of the Champions League,” Arrivabene told Sky Sport Italia.

This was his first real interview since being interviewed by the financial police in Italy as part of the wider investigation into the plusvalenze scandal, the potentially inflated transfer fees used for creative accounting.

“I spoke as a witness and what I said is confidential. I want to point out we are a club floated on the stock exchange, and therefore subjected to very rigid checks from various authorities,” added the Chief Executive officer of the Juventus Football Area.

“We are collaborating with the authorities, with the utmost respect, we said what we needed to via a press statement.

“I have great respect for everyone’s work, but as Juventus we too expect respect. We do not like trials by media, as I respect people more when what they say is based on facts.”

  1. Napoli’s Osimhen was the standout case when this thing broke out. Even FI reported it as such. Yet not a single word about it since then. But a dozen reports thrown around regarding Juve.

Yes Juve is listed on the stock market, but that shouldn’t mean complete silence when it comes to the other clubs involved.

And those prosecutors are leaking too much gossip to the media without any proof yet.

  2. No worries, we all know if italians decide on a case, juBentus somehow find “a way” and get away with it. Just like with calciopoli, when they should have been relegated to Serie C.

  3. I miss Juventus in Serie B – Juventus was crucified during calciopoli when we all now know that Inter was doing the same things that Juve was accused of but were not punished due to the statute of limitations. Moratti and Inter caused calciopoli and destroyed Italian football because they couldn’t win a championship otherwise. Juventus picked itself up and then dominated for 9 years. Inter only won last season’s championship because they had two Juventus people at the helm – Conte and Marotta – Inter and it’s supporters are just a bunch of whingers.
