Marko Arnautovic’s agent confirms Manchester United have made an offer and they are pushing Bologna to accept. ‘We’re in contact to see if it can be realised.’

The centre-forward has emerged as the prime transfer target for new manager Erik ten Hag, as he already worked with Manchester United assistant manager Steve McClaren at FC Twente.

That season he scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 41 competitive games.

“It’s true that there’s a bid from a well-known club,” brother and agent Danijel Arnautovic told Kurier in Austria.

“I am in contact with Bologna to see if it can be realised.”

Sky Sport Italia report that Bologna have already rejected the opening offer of €8m plus another €1-2m in add-ons.

The Rossoblu have been adamant they do not want to sell Arnautovic with just a week to go before the start of the Serie A season.

He had also been linked with a potential transfer to Juventus this summer and again that was rebuffed.

The 33-year-old rediscovered his form at Bologna after spending time at Shanghai SIPG, scoring 13 Serie A goals last season, plus one in the Coppa Italia.

His contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara runs to June 2024 and it’s likely Bologna will only sell if they have a replacement lined up.

He was purchased for only €3m plus €1m in add-ons.

  1. One wonders are United broke, or at least losing their means to buy big.

They’ve splashed a fortune in the last 10 years with almost nothing to show for it. Wouldn’t be a surprise to see them bought by the next oil owner to “rescue” them.

  2. Ferban

The Glazier’s are making too much money to ever consider selling whilst money pours into the premier league! Man utd have tried to splash the cash but they keep getting rejected – de jong one case in point!

  3. @Rosario

True. And they’ve spent a fortune on a lot of average players too. Liverpool have been far wiser.

  4. If this goes through, I don’t know which transfer was weirder, this one or Ighalo to Man U lol.
