Four people have already been arrested following the violent brawl between Napoli and Roma fans on the side of a motorway.

Calciomercato.com recounts how around 180 people were filmed taking part in the large-scale fight by surveillance cameras at the Badia al Pino service stop, where the clash with wooden clubs and metal bars between the two fan groups took place on Sunday.

Authorities have already identified and arrested four for their involvement in the brawl, including historic Roma ultra Martino di Tosto, who suffered a thigh wound and was taken to Arezzo’s emergency room.

Investigators are now examining CCTV footage to identify others who were involved in the fight. The police in Arezzo knew that the two fan groups may have crossed each other’s paths on the motorway and so placed several agents in various service stops on the Autostrada del Sole.

The two groups had planned the brawl over messaging applications and the police involvement seemingly helped avoid major consequences.

A few audio messages have started to emerge on social media, discussing the incident. One example notes how “Gerry is all smashed up, they took him to the ER. Someone else had his legs and arms broken.”
