Argentinean journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reports talks between Juventus and Angel Di Maria over a new contract for the 35-year-old are ‘going in the right direction.’

El Fideo signed a one-year contract with the Bianconeri last summer, so his current deal runs out at the end of the season.

Although the Argentinean has insisted that he wants to end his career at Rosario Central, Juventus are confident of extending his stay at the club by one more season.

Talks between the two parties are “ongoing” claims Argentinean journalist Cesar Luis Merlo on Twitter.

According to the report, there are still a few details Juventus and Di Maria need to discuss, but negotiations are “going in the right direction.”

Di Maria struggled with injuries during the first months in Turin but has become a key player for Max Allegri in the second part of the campaign.

The Argentinean World Cup winner has eight goals and seven assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season.
