Sergio Massa, Argentina’s Minister of Economy, has confirmed the arrival of five offers for Tigre and Italy striker Mateo Retegui.

The 23-year-old Argentine-born striker was called up by Roberto Mancini for this international break, eligible to play for the Azzurri thanks to an Italian grandparent.

Retegui made his Italy debut in their Euro 2024 qualifier against England, scoring the Azzurri’s only goal in a tough 2-1 loss in Naples.

Speaking to Radio Mitre, Massa – who is a close friend of Tigre’s management – discussed the interest in Retegui and the offers that have arrived.

“Mateo has been called up by the Italy national team and five different offers have immediately arrived for him, all in the last three weeks. So, it is clear that a 23-year-old player with dual nationality could leave. Of these five offers, at least four come from Europe.”

Two clubs who are reportedly interest in Retegui are Inter and Milan, with the former having followed him for over a year now.

The 23-year-old Argentine-Italian forward has been on fire for Tigre this season, scoring six goals in eight league appearances for the club.

Retegui joined Tigre in February 2022 from Boca Juniors on a two-year loan deal with a €2.5m buy option attached, which’ll be activated in the summer. The Buenos Aires giants hold a 50% future resale clause on the striker.
