Lionel Scaloni explained why he decided not to deploy Roma star Paulo Dybala against Honduras but suggested that he’ll be available for Argentina’s next friendly against Jamaica.

The 28-year-old forward did not take part in the Giallorossi’s match against Atalanta before this international break, suffering a left flexor problem in the warm-up. Medical tests confirmed that the injury was nothing serious, so Dybala decided to fly to the US to join his national team as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Scaloni discussed his decision not to play Dybala and provided a slight update on his health.

“I decided not to risk Paulo. I need him at a much higher level and it would be a shame to risk him, I think he’ll be available for the next game.”

Argentina’s next match is a friendly against Jamaica next week on September 28, where the Roma star could feature.

Jose Mourinho is expecting to have the 28-year-old available for Roma’s next match against Inter on October 1, a game that could prove vital in the race for a top four finish.
