Napoli have reduced their list of potential goalkeepers to just two names: Alphonse Areola and Alex Meret.
The Partenopei need a replacement for Pepe Reina, who didn’t have his contract renewed and has joined Milan as a free agent.
Many options were mentioned, including Petr Cech of Arsenal, Rui Patricio at Sporting CP, Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper Bernd Leno, Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas and Salvatore Sirigu at Torino.

However, according to TV Luna and their Naples-based pundit Carlo Alvino, the list is really now down to only two alternatives.
They are Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Areola and Meret of Udinese.
New Coach Carlo Ancelotti has already worked with 25-year-old Areola at PSG and his contract is due to expire in June 2019, which makes him relatively affordable at €20-25m.
He also seems to be on the market, as the Parisians are ready to sign Gianluigi Buffon on a two-year contract.
The other candidate is Meret, only 21 years old and fresh from two seasons on loan at SPAL.
He is earmarked to be the Udinese first choice goalkeeper for next term and is one of several youngsters at one stage or another nicknamed the ‘heir to Buffon.’
