Alberto Aquilani is ready to fight for the Premier League title given that his hopes of staying in Italy seem over.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Juventus, but the Turin giants have sent him back to Liverpool after refusing to take up their option to sign him outright.

"Liverpool are a side of great importance," his agent Franco Zavaglia told Radio Sportiva. "They have got over the problems they had with their previous owners.

"Today they are a club who could win the Premier League. Their minimum objective is to get back into the Champions League."

Aquilani has been linked with other Serie A sides – such as Napoli and Milan – but the chances of a switch to Italy before the window closes seem slim.

"I don't know if this market will give him an opportunity to join a different Italian club," continued the representative.

"It's sad to see so many of our players who have to go and play their football abroad," added Zavaglia.

"Alberto wanted to remain in the peninsula, but that wasn't possible."
