Former Milan full back Luca Antonini believes Tottenham’s 4-1 loss to Leicester City may have fired them up ahead of their Champions League clash with the Rossoneri.

The two sides, who have both been in a run of poor form in recent weeks, are facing off in the Round of 16 of the competition, playing the first leg at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday before playing the decisive second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on March 8.

Whilst Milan finally returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Torino on the weekend, Spurs were forced to come back down to Earth following their win over Manchester City, suffering a 4-1 loss to Leicester.

Speaking to Tuttosport, Antonini explained why he thinks Milan could struggle against Tottenham tomorrow.

“Tottenham come from a heavy 4-1 defeat to Leicester, not good news for Milan. Knowing Conte, I’m convinced he didn’t give his players a good time. I believe, and fear, that tomorrow Tottenham will go 300 miles per hour.”

The former Milan full back then touched on who Stefano Pioli’s squad should be afraid of heading into the match.

“Milan should fear no one, especially at home. However, the strength of Conte’s teams, more than the individual, is the collective.

“It will be a very tough match, but Milan will have to face it with the attitude they have had for over two years, with the awareness of their qualities, carrying out their ideas, beyond the system of play they will use.”

Milan have only faced Tottenham four times in the past, in the 1971-72 and 2010-11 seasons, losing twice and drawing twice.
