Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello believes a move for Ramires is difficult – “here you think how Jiangsu Suning can help Inter, in China it’s the opposite”.

The Nerazzurri want to take the Brazilian midfielder on loan, and it wasn’t thought a deal would be difficult because both are owned by Suning Group.

“They are different projects,” Antonello explained to Corriere della Sera.

“If the needs don’t match up then we can’t do it.”

The Beneamata want to redevelop San Siro, but they share the stadium with Milan and rent it from the council.

“We’re opponents on the pitch, but we co-operate off it. We need to see how we’ll continue with the management of the stadium. San Siro is our home.

“The future of the stadium will be at the centre of the meeting on February 5 between ourselves, Milan and the Municipality.

“It [the stadium] has to be alive every day, not just on Sunday. The hospitality areas have to be increased from the current 4 per cent to 14 per cent.

“The capacity would be reduced to 60,000; we’re talking about an investment of circa €150m.”

Antonello is an Inter fan, and he was asked how it felt to be appointed as CEO.

“I feel pride and the weight of responsibility. My dedication is total, I want to achieve the goal of the ownership: Inter must return to being one of the top clubs in Europe.

“In July the strategy was clear: return to the Champions League in compliance with financial fair play. We have to balance the technical and economic factors.

“The growth has to be organic from a commercial point of view, so we can achieve a ‘deseasonilisation’ of results.

“It’s like Manchester United, if they don’t make the Champions League one season it’s not a drama, because the structure is solid.

“Of course it's a virtuous circle. The return to the Champions League produces an economic return and pushes the Inter brand.

“Inter fans have an attachment to the club beyond all limits. At San Siro there are an average of 60,000 spectators.

“Every fan wants to dream, but we can not be led by emotion, we have to respect the strategic plans that we’ve set. The dream for us continues and we want to bring Inter back to Europe.”

The Beneamata are determined to comply with Financial Fair Play, but clubs like Paris Saint-Germain seem less concerned…

“I don’t want to talk about financial doping, but there are important figures which deserve reflection,” Antonello noted.

“It’s clear that everyone must respect the rules and UEFA will be vigilant. If someone does not respect the rules and is not punished, the system loses credibility.”
