Antonelli: ‘Difficult to find positives’

Luca Antonelli admits it’s ‘difficult to find positives’ in the wake of Milan’s 3-0 friendly defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Rossoneri were swept aside by the German champions in the Audi Cup, and lost M’Baye Niang to injury.

“We faced one of the best teams in the world and they didn’t allow us to get out of our own half of the pitch,” Antonelli sighed, speaking to Milan Channel.

“Now, we must continue working as we have been doing up until now and prepare well for the Coppa Italia fixture [against Perugia or Reggiana].

“It’s difficult to find positives from the match, it was a very draining match from a physical point of view because they pinned us back in our own half.

“We still have a lot of work to do because Bayern are perhaps the best team in the world and we saw that during the match.

“We’re at the beginning of a new cycle and we have to try and reach their level.

“We weren’t expecting Bayern to be that good, but it’s normal seeing as they start their domestic championship soon and they have already played the [German] Super Cup

“We simply have to work.”
