Fiorentina director Giancarlo Antognoni believes they can qualify for Europe and assures they’ll “try to keep our best players.”

The Viola were beaten in a 4-3 thriller by Lazio last night, but remain only three points adrift of Milan in sixth place.

“Of course it was disappointing to emerge empty-handed from a game like that, but we’re on the right track and if we continue like that, we can achieve an unexpected result like a place in Europe,” club manager Antognoni told Salotto Viola.

“There is a definite possibility, because we aren’t even that far from Milan.”

Fiorentina were weakened by the departure of many big stars over the summer and Milan Badelj will be out of contract in June, while Federico Chiesa is wanted by clubs all over Europe.

“We will try to keep our best players. The transfer market is so vast that you never know what might happen, but a lot of it depends on the players.”
