Fiorentina officially deny they don’t want to take part in the Supercoppa: ‘We will participate regularly.’
Reports in Italy have suggested the Tuscans and Napoli consider withdrawing from the competition that will take place in January 2024 in Saudi Arabia. However, while Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed his concerns, Fiorentina denied the reports.
“We have never said we don’t want to participate in the Supercoppa,” the club said on Wednesday through their YouTube channel.
“We deserved to play in the competition, so we will participate regularly. Rumours circulating about our withdrawal have annoyed us.”
The 2024 Supercoppa Italiana will involve four clubs for the first time ever. Fiorentina qualified as the 2022-23 Coppa Italia Finalists.
