Tanguy Ndombele has struggled for consistent minutes at Napoli this season but the recent injury to André-Frank Zambo Anguissa gives him the chance to show his skills.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has not had an easy time since joining Spurs for €60m back in the summer of 2019. He’s never been able to show his true qualities in North London and joined Napoli on loan this summer in a bid to prove himself.

Ndombele has played 282 minutes of action across 10 appearances in Serie A and the Champions League this season, mostly coming off the bench. In that time, he’s scored a goal and provided an assist, briefly showing glimpses of his potential.

Anguissa has suffered a minor thigh injury, ruling him out of action for a week or two, giving Ndombele an opportunity to take his place in Luciano Spalletti’s starting 11.

The French midfielder seems ready to take this chance, having put up some good work for Napoli since his arrival. In the Campania capital, Ndombele averages 4.29 progressive passes per 90 minutes, 3.26 shot-creating actions per 90 and 5.71 progressive dribbles per 90.

If Ndombele can perform during Anguissa’s injury, he could find the confidence he needs to shine for Spalletti and Napoli this season.
