Nicolas Anelka believes Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba can become the best player in the world.

The French international recently signed a new deal which will keep him in Turin until 2019, with his wages reportedly increasing to almost €4m per season.

Anelka spent six months on loan at the Bianconeri in 2013, but made only three appearances. However, the half-year the former Arsenal man spent in Turin has convinced him of Pogba’s abilities.

“Pogba has everything,” Anelka told France Football.

“It will be difficult for him now, because the hardest thing is to stay on top form.

“He has a lot of things in his favour though: positioning, personality, a great club [Juventus] and a great national team.

“Pogba can become the best player in the world if he continues on his current path.

“In his first year at Juventus you could see Paul’s class. We’re often in contact, we exchange text messages.”
