Empoli coach Aurelio Andreazzoli warns they need to ‘take our chances’ after a heavy 3-0 home loss at the hands of Sampdoria.

This was the third home defeat out of three for the Tuscans, and although they did have chances and forced saves from Emil Audero, they conceded three and could’ve let more in too.

Francesco Caputo bagged a brace before the late Antonio Candreva curler into the far top corner.

Serie A | Empoli 0-3 Sampdoria: Caputo and Candreva commanding

“I think we played well in the first half against a strong side that has a lot of individual quality,” Andreazzoli told Sky Sport Italia.

“Causing that many problems for Samp is something my team deserves credit for, but clearly we then need to take our chances, because otherwise the game changes when the intensity drops.

“I think not taking the lead in the first half and then physical fitness falling away made the difference today, as Sampdoria took control after the break. Sometimes you need a little bit of luck and we didn’t have that today, but hope it’ll be on our side in future.”

This has been a recurring theme for Empoli’s season, as they play well, but a leaky defence sees them drop points.

“In my job, it’s important to find the right balance. Serie A has these smart strikers who try to break away with individual talent from tactical organisation.”
