Empoli coach Aurelio Andreazzoli believes the 4-2 defeat to Milan ‘felt like a victory’ and the Diavolo will challenge for the Scudetto all the way.
The Tuscans have beaten some big clubs this season, including Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina, but were beaten 4-2 at home by the Rossoneri this evening.
It was almost 2-2 straight after the restart, Nedim Bajrami thumping the crossbar.
“We were in the game physically, we needed something to go our way in order to give us this confidence booster so we’d believe a bit more,” Andreazzoli told Sky Sport Italia.
“My lads did really well, I told them it felt like a victory. Being able to cause Milan so many problems without losing our own shape, that is a real show of strength or a side like Empoli.
“I was not so interested in the points this evening as the performance and what is says about Empoli going forward.”
Considering this is the midway point of the campaign, Andreazzoli was asked if Milan are Scudetto contenders.
“I think the top four will be battling to the end. Napoli struggled this evening, Inter give me the impression of being a very solid side. A lot will depend on their head-to-head clashes.”
Well… Milan’s lead didn’t last long!
