Aurelio Andreazzoli was unveiled as Empoli coach today: ‘I feel at home here.’

The 67-year-old has returned to the club for the third time in his career. He gained Serie A promotion in 2017-18, but was sacked after the first 11 games in Italy’s top flight. He returned to the club on that same season to replace Giuseppe Iachini, but he could not manage to avoid relegation to Serie B.

“I have a nice feeling, I feel at home here. I’ve seen many people I was missing. I am satisfied with this solution,” the coach said at a press conference.

“I feel I must complete the job, when the President called me, I told him: ‘Give me four hours and I’ll be there by bike.’

“I have no negative memories about my time here, but we must focus on the present. I like this group of players and we need to develop the younger ones.

“We must have patience and a solid structure, the staff and I will enter the dressing room quietly because this group of players has already been successful. I hope I can be up to the task.

“We will begin with a 4-3-1-2 system, but we need to be ready to change and have alternatives we can use.”
