Carlo Ancelotti’s son Davide could replace his father at the helm of Real Madrid next week when the Merengues face Chelsea in the Champions League.

Ancelotti tested positive for COVID today and will likely miss the next La Liga match away at Celta Vigo. However, the Merengues have a more critical test next week when they’ll visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The match will be played precisely in seven days (April 6) and ‘Carletto’ may not recover in time for the meeting with his former club in London.

His son and No.1 assistant Davide will therefore be on the touchline at Stamford Bridge next week if his father doesn’t recover in time. Davide already tested positive for COVID in December, along with four Real Madrid players. He’s been following Carlo for many years, becoming his assistant coach at Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton before Real Madrid.
