Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti warns Real Madrid that the Spanish title is not in their pockets yet: ‘I lost a Champions League Final winning 3-0…’
The Merengues beat Mallorca 3-0 last night thanks to a goal of Vinicius Junior and a brace of Karim Benzema.
The La Liga giants won four of their last five league matches and are enjoying a ten-point lead over Sevilla with 10 games remaining before the end of the season. Despite the gap with the second-placed, Ancelotti believes that his players should not be too confident ahead of the final part of the campaign.
“Nothing changes. We have an advantage, and that’s good, but we have to get to the international break in good form,” he said at a press conference, as quoted by Football Espana.
“I’m telling you that I’ve lost a Champions League final, winning 3-0. I hope it doesn’t happen again.”
Ancelotti referred to the famous Champions League Final lost by his Milan side against Liverpool in 2005. The Rossoneri were leading 3-0 at half time but conceded three goals in six minutes, losing the match after a penalty shoot-out.
Last summer, Ancelotti began a second spell at Real Madrid, signing a three-year deal with the La Liga giants. He has never won the Spanish title in his career.
