According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Carlo Ancelotti is increasingly likely to become the new Brazil boss, with the Italian tactician’s future in Madrid dependent on the Champions League’s victory.

Ancelotti is under contract at the Estadio Bernabeu until 2024. Still, the Brazilian FA see him as the primary candidate to replace Tite, who was sacked after the World Cup elimination in the quarter-finals at the hands of Croatia.

Ancelotti has repeatedly claimed that he is not considering leaving the Spanish capital before the end of his contract unless he’s sacked, but according to Gazzetta, there are big chances that Madrid will part ways with the 63-year-old at the end of the season.

“Ancelotti is close to leaving and only the Champions League would keep him tied to Florentino,” wrote Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Pierfrancesco Archetti who added Manchester City keeper Ederson has recently hinted that Brazil could soon hire Ancelotti.

“There are big chances that he joins,” said the 29-year-old at a press conference earlier this week.

Ancelotti is the only coach who won the Champions League four times and became the first to lift the domestic title in each of the top five European leagues last term, winning La Liga with Real Madrid.

The Merengues have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals this season but have been eliminated by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semis and are 12 points below the Catalans in the La Liga table.
