Carlo Ancelotti opened up about the Serie A title race, Investcorp’s interest in Milan and his experience with Napoli.

The Italian coach is proving his status as one of Europe’s finest coaches this season as he’s on course to become the first coach to win all of Europe’s top five leagues. He’s also the first coach to reach the Champions League semi-finals in four different decades, a sign of his longevity and adaptability.

Speaking to Radio Uno, Ancelotti first discussed Real Madrid’s recent comebacks against Chelsea and Sevilla.

“I don’t ask for strong emotions, I’d like to see quieter games. The magic of this club, this team and these players is coming out. The end of the season is not far away. We hope to end it in the best possible way.

“I can say I’m a lucky coach. I’m coaching a team that I feel very strongly about and that gives me great satisfaction. A very well organised club. I’m the one who has to thank Real Madrid, who gave me the opportunity to come back and coach this team.”

He then touched on Milan’s title race hopes in Serie A and Real Madrid’s respective run-in in La Liga.

“Milan have a chance, as do Inter and Napoli. I think it will be a battle until the last minute of the last game. It’s a very balanced race. There will still be surprise results. Real Madrid have the history, tradition and quality to compete until the end.

“Now we have a tough challenge against City. We will play our cards. It was also tough against Paris and Chelsea. The new away goal rule, which is no longer double, makes these challenges more balanced and exciting.”

The Italian coach commented on the possibility of Kylian Mbappe joining Los Blancos in the summer.

“I say that the future of this club, thanks to president Perez, is of the highest level. And it will also be in the coming years regardless of the players who may come.

“Real Madrid made football history after the war and will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Ancelotti discussed Investcorp’s interest in Milan. They are reportedly willing to pay $1.1 billion for the club.

“We are used to companies being bought by investment funds. In this case, if everything goes through, I think it could be good for Milan. It will be a mutual good.”

He touched on his possible return to the Rossoneri.

“I’ll talk about my future when I finish at Real. If I stop in 20 years I think I’ll retire. Milan have given me a lot.

“Me, a wise Milan advisor? There’s Maldini who’s doing a great job.”

The Real Madrid coach commented on the links between Marco Asensio and Milan.

“He’s a player of extraordinary quality. In recent years he’s suffered a knee injury which has forced him to sit out. He’s important.

“I can only make a technical assessment and he’s given the team an important hand. I don’t know about the future. He’s talking to the club about renewing his contract. But I’ll only stop at the technical aspect.”

Ancelotti looked back at his time with Napoli.

“I enjoyed my time at Napoli. Then for a series of things that were missing the relationship was interrupted. It happened to me in Paris. But I think it’s right. For the good of both parties.”

He spoke about if it was better for Roma to win the Europa Conference League or finish 4th in the table.

“I think Mourinho has restored enthusiasm in a place that needed it. He’s doing an extraordinary job thanks to his qualities.

“I don’t know what can happen now. I think Mourinho can be an important part of Roma’s history.”

Finally, Ancelotti discussed the fact that Juventus will probably finish 4th in the league table again.

“Juventus’ fourth place for the second time in a row is a bit of a surprise, yes. I think it’s a transition period. They’ve made important investments like Vlahovic and I think they can get back to competing.”

  1. The humility of this man has made him head and shoulders above other managers! While this man had won the most champions league as both players and coaches and won league in all the top 5 league in Europe as a coach (including the la-liga this season) Mr allegri is there struggling even qualify for the champions league with his sickly football style… Ooh my goodness, save me from medieval style of football in the 21st century

  2. I rate this man ahead of Guardiola and Klopp. They require heavy investments in players that can fit into their setup and time to make it work. Fortunately for them, they have been at clubs that were prepared to give them time and, at their present clubs, a lot of money. Remember in both their first seasons, neither of them won any trophies. Guardiola finished 3rd and Klopp finished 4th (in his first full season) in the league. Imagine if either of them took charge of Real or Chelsea. They would have been sacked after their first seasons. Ancelotti, on the other hand, can achieve success with the squad at his disposal, which is more difficult.

  3. Ade shush and stop flip flopping. You and many of the Juventini were singing the glorious return of PhD Max, Harvard certified Scholar of back, back, down, down ball and now you complain about Medieval ball. I have been saying this for over 10 years and now the chickens have come home to roost.

  4. @Lord, forever support Italian prosperity over the stupidity of Allegri’s killing and retrogressive football..I’m a lover of football and Most romantically, Acmilan… Thanks for a Milan sempre
