Ancelotti takes Everton to High Court

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is suing his former club Everton and it is reportedly over a £2m bonus payment, further adding to the club’s financial woes.

The Real Madrid boss had an 18-month spell at Everton after he was sacked by Napoli in December 2019, until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Ancelotti’s lawyers filed the suit today at the High Court in relation to ‘general commercial contracts and arrangements.’

The details are otherwise scarce, but Mail Sport claim that the issue is tied to a £2m bonus payment that was made to Ancelotti during his time at the club.

It is believed to be a tax problem around that payment which Ancelotti wants resolved by Everton.

The Premier League side is in serious financial trouble and last month owner Farhad Moshiri brought in a large loan to cover the cost of building a new stadium.

Complete catastrophe was only averted on the final day of the season by managing to escape the threat of relegation.

Ancelotti’s reign had been considered disappointing with 10th and 12th place, but those were vastly superior to the results Everton have achieved since his departure.
