Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke highly about Jose Mourinho and suggested that his move to Roma was the perfect decision.

The 59-year-old Portuguese coach took over at the Giallorossi last year and immediately found success in the Italian capital, guiding the club to their first ever European title in the Europa Conference League. Roma picked up key additions like Paulo Dybala and Nemanja Matic in the summer, keen to fight for a top four finish.

Writing in Ivan Zazzaroni’s book ‘Becoming Mourinho’, Ancelotti gave his thoughts on Mourinho and the Portuguese coach’s move to Roma last year.

“I have known José for many years and I believe that Roma has changed him. The one with the Giallorossi was a perfect marriage for him and for Roma themselves. He’s a great of football. I know what he hasn’t changed in, his honesty and intelligence haven’t changed.”

Since his arrival last year, Mourinho has overseen 73 Roma matches in total, averaging 1.84 points per match. The club currently sit fourth in the Serie A table after 12 games, picking up 25 points from eight wins and a draw.

Roma’s next match is the ever-bitter Derby della Capitale against intercity rivals Lazio

  1. Mourinho has max shelf life of three years wherever he goes. Little premature for Carlo to be talking like this though I hope he’s right.

  2. It is likely that Mourinho won’t get good result in his 3rd yr in Roma. But if both Mourinho and Roma can overcome or be patient the hard year, they will be great.
