Rafael Leao was reportedly offered to Real Madrid by his agent, but Carlo Ancelotti personally reassured Milan chief Paolo Maldini there would be no transfer swoop.

The Portugal international was the stand-out performer of the season on the way to securing the Serie A title and his value on the market has soared to at least €70-80m.

He is currently negotiating a new contract to stay with the Rossoneri and lock him down before the richest clubs come knocking, but the €4.5m per season proposal isn’t enough.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, agent Jorge Mendes proposed Leao to Real Madrid and tried to use that interest to get a better deal for his client.

However, he was undone by the fact Real Madrid coach Ancelotti remains great friends with Milan director Maldini and they are in regular contact.

The report claims Ancelotti called Maldini to reassure him that Real Madrid had no intention of poaching Leao, as he is not on their wish-list.

  1. Carlito is a fox , figured out that if Milan gave him a large contract it will be more for Real to buy him out of !
    LOL

  2. I wouldn’t mind if Leao was sold for high $$$. He’s a great player with a big future but Milan need a complete team before they can even think about having a superstar play to their full potential. For example, imagine what Leao would be capable of at Liverpool with the teammates he would have there. Milan need to aim for building
that sort of complete roster before anything.
