Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti has officially placed his team ‘in ritiro’ to prepare for their match against Udinese this weekend.

Last month, the Partenopei coach fought his players’ corner when they were put in a training retreat by President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

However, the club has now confirmed that Ancelotti himself has decided to keep the players together for four days.

After a meeting between the staff and players at the San Paolo, the players will return to training as normal tomorrow, before remaining in a retreat from Wednesday until the match against Udinese this weekend.

Carletto has been looking for a solution to end a winless run of eight games across all competitions.

Before the international break in November, the squad protested a similar decision made by De Laurentiis, who later fined each player individually, proportionate to their involvement in the mutiny.

Napoli are seventh in Serie A after 14 games, eight points behind fourth-placed Roma, but are only a draw with Racing Genk away from the last 16 of the Champions League.
