Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he will meet Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis tomorrow “and he decides if I stay or go,” amid strong reports he’ll be replaced by Gennaro Gattuso.

There was a sense of farewell at the Stadio San Paolo this evening in their 4-0 win over Genk, which secured their place in the Champions League Round of 16.

Ancelotti reiterated he “has never resigned and never will,” but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t his last match on the Napoli bench.

“We are having a meeting tomorrow to evaluate the situation and then together we will make the best decision for Napoli,” said the coach in his press conference.

“I hope to continue my experience at Napoli. I do not have any decisions to make, because it’s the President who decides if I will stay or go.

“I was pleased with the applause of the Stadio San Paolo crowd, as the fans are close to the team again and that is important.

“It’s entirely normal to be evaluated, because the team’s performances have been negative in Serie A, especially compared to what we did in the Champions League.”

When asked about Ancelotti's situation before the game, director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli refused to answer the question.
