Italian Carlo Ancelotti has been named Coach of the Year for 2024 in the FIFA The Best awards, with Real Madrid’s Vinicius taking top player.
It is the latest in a bulging trophy cabinet in the career of the former Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss.
Ancelotti was at the ceremony in Doha this evening to receive the award, which was in itself historic, as 2024 is the first year where this particular FIFA prize has been handed out.
Carletto beat Pep Guardiola, Xabi Alonso, Luis de la Fuente and Lionel Scaloni to the prize after winning the Champions League, La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana.
He then took the UEFA Super Cup too, beating Atalanta 2-0 in the August final.
Ancelotti top coach of 2024

FIFA The Best Awards are voted by national team coaches, national team captains, football journalists and fans.
Ancelotti’s star man at Real Madrid, Vinicius Junior, was also crowned The Best Men’s Player and attended the ceremony, unlike the boycott of the Ballon d’Or after finding out he had lost to Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
FIFA’s The Best XI of 2024 was confirmed, though no representatives from Serie A were even short-listed.
FIFA The Best XI: Martinez; Carvajal, Rudiger, Dias, Saliba; Bellingham, Rodri, Kroos; Yamal, Haaland, Vinicius
