Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti joked he would ‘walk’ to Saudi Arabia for €500m, but then made his position clear. ‘I don’t need money.’

The Italian’s future has been the subject of numerous rumours in recent months, including that of a possible new contract with the Merengues or the prestigious job of the Brazil national team boss.

During today’s press conference, he was asked if he would accept a position in the Saudi Pro League for €500m and replied with a classic Italian phrase.

“I’d walk there,” joked Ancelotti.

“I wouldn’t even need to book the flight, I’d go on foot.”

However, he then got serious and warned that this sort of proposal will continue to gain momentum in the football world, along with other sports.

“I’m joking. I don’t need money. The world is changing, it will continue to change, and nothing surprises me now.”

Some Italians have already gone to Saudi Arabia, for instance Roberto Mancini, who quit the Nazionale job to take over the Saudi national team role.

Jose Mourinho of Roma, Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri and Juventus boss Max Allegri have all also been linked with potential roles in the Saudi Pro League.
