Carlo Ancelotti believes “Sinisa Mihajlovic will do well at Milan” and explains his decision to reject a comeback.

The Coach is taking time off after he was sacked by Real Madrid and turned down repeated offers to take over at San Siro this summer.

“The truth is that (CEO Adriano) Galliani put a lot of pressure on in order to convince me to return, but in my head I only had the idea of taking a year off, as I needed a few months to rest,” Ancelotti told Milan Channel in a phone interview.

“I didn’t want to come back to Milan without being at the top of my game. Galliani understood my decision, even though I must admit it made me suffer to say no to Milan.

“I would’ve liked to return, but as I said, I needed a break. There was a definite possibility I could come back. We met, we discussed it, but at the end of the day it was my decision.”

The Rossoneri fans are even more upset at his rejection considering the problems of current Coach Mihajlovic.

“I really like Mihajlovic, his approach, what he says and his character. He is a Coach who will do very well at Milan,” assured Ancelotti.

“At this moment the squad has some problems that need to be resolved. Milan must try to find their identity. They signed some very strong players, like Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano and some youngsters who did well last term. I would wait before saying Milan made bad buys, as it requires a little patience.

“Bacca did very well at Sevilla and was of interest to many clubs. I like him a lot and he reminds me of Pippo Inzaghi, because he’s good at attacking the space and playing off the shoulder of the opposition defenders. We’d thought about getting him at Real Madrid too.”

On Saturday Milan play Torino and this is a special fixture for the tactician, as in 2001 it sparked the Ancelotti era.

“After that game, (President Calisto) Tanzi said on TV that the day after I would sign for Parma. The next morning, Galliani called and told me I should come to Milan.

“Tanzi understood my decision too, because Milan is always Milan.”
