The former Rossoneri player and Coach met with his former striker and new tactician at San Siro during the past week’s UEFA Elite Club Coaches Forum in Nyon.

On from this, the current Real Madrid boss has reflected on the bright start made to Milan’s Serie A season.

“Did I expect a positive start? More than expected I had hoped so. And it has arrived,” Ancelotti has considered to Il Giornale.

“Because the arrival of Pippo has brought with it a wave of enthusiasm at Milanello and the surrounding environment.

“Who is responsible? First of all, the return of Silvio Berlusconi to the side of the team – he is the most important recent purchase of Milan.

“Then in have come exemplary professionals. I know some of them and I speak from direct knowledge.”

Those include Diego Lopez, who kept Iker Casillas out of the Real Madrid team during last season under Ancelotti.

“He has quality, he is very practical, and has accepted the challenge of starting against in another type of football after Real Madrid.

“In Madrid there was competition with Casillas and he has chosen to play on a regular basis.”

Ancelotti was asked about Inzaghi’s approach to judge the man and then the player.

“The ideal is to have one and the other – the man and the talent. But big groups are formed thanks to intelligent people and impeccable professionals.

“And it is large groups who then end up winning on the field. I have no doubt about that.”

Mario Balotelli was inevitably brought up, with the 55-year-old asked what he would do if he was working with the new Liverpool man.

“I don’t know. I have never met the guy and will not offer judgements on hearsay. I would only add a self-criticism – sometimes having a Coach who looks for the approval of the dressing room can be a limitation.”
