It's no secret that Ancelotti is Roma's No 1 choice to replace caretaker boss Vincenzo Montella at the end of the season in May.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Roma's efforts to lure Ancelotti to the Olimpico would be greatly facilitated if he were sacked.

Ancelotti has a year left on his contract with Chelsea and extricating the former Milan boss from it would be costly.
