Ancelotti grooming son Davide for coaching future

Carlo Ancelotti acknowledges he is grooming his son and Real Madrid assistant manager Davide for a future career on the bench. ‘For sure he will be a coach.’

The Italian tactician continued his extraordinary winning streak with his fourth UEFA Super Cup trophy, more than any other boss in history, as Real Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in Helsinki this evening.

It followed on from the Champions League and LaLiga title last term, all of them earned with Davide Ancelotti by his side.

“He’s an assistant, for sure he will be a coach as well in the future,” Carlo told BT Sport.

“He’s working a lot on the set pieces, he has more energy than me!”

Davide just turned 33 last month and had a brief playing career in the Milan youth academy and amateur side Borgomanero before hanging up his boots in 2009.

He first joined Carlo’s staff as a fitness coach at Paris Saint-Germain in 2012-13, then at Real Madrid in 2013-15, before promotion to assistant manager at Bayern Munich in 2016-17.

Davide held the role ever since with spells at Napoli, Everton and now back at Real Madrid.
