Carlo Ancelotti has offered a word of advice to Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo about their defending ahead of Sunday’s LaLiga clash against Espanyol.

Reports in Spain suggest that the Italian tactician is planning a switch-up to his line-up in order to get the best out of his star-studded squad while they are in possession.

Ancelotti also feels that his recent system has not helped his team in the defensive side of the game. He called upon his players to be operate as more of a collective unit when addressing the issue in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“The team’s objective is to be compact,” Ancelotti said, reported via Football Espana.

“If Vini, Kylian and Rodrygo press high and the midfielders don’t go up and the defence don’t go up, it’s not  their problem.

“I’m not saying they have to defend more, but we have to get closer in distances to the midfield. I understand you think there’s a lack of balance, because the three up front ‘aren’t working’, but that’s not the case.”
