Carlo Ancelotti has emptied out his office at the Napoli training ground, with Gennaro Gattuso to take this afternoon’s training session.
The coach was sacked last night, just hours after a 4-0 win over Genk secured their place in the Champions League Round of 16.
That decision was announced to him by President Aurelio De Laurentiis at the Hotel Vesuvio, often used as the patron’s base of operations in Naples.
Sky Sport Italia confirm Ancelotti visited the Castel Volturno training ground this morning and emptied out his office.
The players were not present, as their training session has been postponed until the afternoon.
This will give time for Napoli to announce Gattuso is their new coach and for him to take charge of the session at 14.30 local time (13.30 GMT).
He will hold a press conference at the ground at 17.00 GMT.
Ancelotti’s entire staff has also been dismissed, so Gattuso is bringing in a new set of collaborators.
It’s a fast turnaround, as his debut will be on Saturday against Parma.
This is a very important match, as Napoli and Parma are currently joint seventh in Serie A on 21 points.
