It’s reported Carlo Ancelotti is opening up to the Italy job, after further talks about the role yesterday.

The former Milan Coach appears to be the popular choice to replace Giampiero Ventura, though he’s said in the past that he still feels he has work to do in club football.

Despite that, he’s been increasingly linked with the role of Azzurri CT and today’s Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the chances of him taking over have moved from unlikely to, at the very least, possible.

The first contact was made on Tuesday evening by director general Michele Uva, as the pair have been friends since their time together at Parma.

Yesterday Tavecchio reached out further through an intermediary, but Ancelotti wants clarity, authoritative leaders at the FIGC and well-defined roles.

If he did take over the role it’s likely that he would wait until July when his Bayern Munich contract expires, but Ancelotti doesn’t want to be tied to a weak FIGC.

As a result, it will be crucial to see whether Tavecchio can pass his proposed reforms on Monday at the Consiglio Federale.
