Ancelotti: ‘Cavani? No comment…’

Napoli Coach Carlo Ancelotti won’t discuss rumours of a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani – “it would be disrespectful”.

The Partenopei face PSG on Tuesday night in the Champions League, but it has been rumoured that the striker could be set for a more permanent homecoming in the near future.

“Right now there’s no point talking about the transfer market,” Ancelotti said in his Press conference ahead of the Empoli game.

The Partenopei face PSG on Tuesday night in the Champions League, but it has been rumoured that the striker could be set for a more permanent homecoming in the near future.

“Right now there’s no point talking about the transfer market,” Ancelotti said in his Press conference ahead of the Empoli game.

“It’s all very premature, among other things we’ll have to face Cavani in four days. It would be disrespectful to talk about him, out of respect for those who are here, who are doing well and are fully satisfying me.

“Is there anyone I want? No, the desire is to coach a team that gives me emotion in a beautiful environment with a club that supports me, so I can’t ask for more.

“That’s what a Coach wants, and I want to maintain that for a long time.”

It was then put to Ancelotti that fans expect more from Arkadiusz Milik.

“Yes, because a striker is often judged by the goals he scores. He’s going through a dry spell, but he played really well against Roma.

“I never demand goals from my strikers, just to move in harmony with everyone else and he’s doing that. I don’t see any issue.”

Kalidou Kouliably has once again been in great form this season, and Carletto was asked if he’s the best defender he’s worked with.

“It’s difficult to make a podium,” Ancelotti replied.

“There’s Thiago Silva, [Alessandro] Nesta, [Sergio] Ramos, [John] Terry, [Jaap] Stam, [Fabio] Cannavaro, [Lilian] Thuram… should we keep going?

“Perhaps right now Koulibaly is one of the best in the world.”
