Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat had commentators, pundits and social media screaming after his extraordinary run back and tackle on France striker Kylian Mbappé.

Les Bleus were leading 1-0 in the World Cup semi-final and it looked for all the world as if Mbappé was about to double their advantage when he turned on the afterburners to burst down the left.

However, Amrabat confirmed his astonishing tournament by sprinting back and lunging into the sliding tackle at the by-line.

Some pundits and supporters on social media even called it ‘the moment of the tournament’ in Qatar.

It won’t have done any harm to his prospects on the transfer market, as Fiorentina paid €20m to get him from Hellas Verona in January 2021 and his value has easily doubled with Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Tottenham all interested.
