Napoli have emerged as surprise candidates to sign former Manchester United loanee Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina this summer, while sporting director Giovanni Manna continues to negotiate for Scotland midfielders Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay.

The Morocco international is expected to leave Fiorentina by the end of the summer transfer window, as his Viola contract is due to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Amrabat emerges as possible option for Napoli

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, an offer in the region of €15m should be enough to satisfy Fiorentina’s demands.

Amrabat had spent the 2023-24 season on loan in the Premier League with Manchester United, who also had a buy clause included in the contract, but they decided not to activate that option.

With Antonio Conte in desperate need of new additions this summer, particularly in midfield, Amrabat has emerged as a feasible option alongside Gilmour and McTominay.

Napoli have already sent Jens Cajuste to Ipswich Town this summer, and Michael Folorunsho is not a player that Conte sees as a first team regular, so he could be on his way out, too. Gianluca Gaetano is also expected to leave the club this window.

That leaves just Stanislav Lobotka and Frank Zambo Anguissa as the only senior midfield options at the Stadio Maradona.
