Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is the breakout star of Morocco’s World Cup squad and his brother Nordin believes ‘PSG ought to sign him’ amid Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur interest.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation in the tournament and is set to lead the midfield in their historic semi-final against France on Wednesday.

While Premier League clubs are on red alert and seeing their interest get stronger every day, his brother maintains France is the right destination.

“The World Cup is just as big a stage as the Champions League, maybe bigger, and he is in the spotlight,” Nordin Amrabat told L’Equipe newspaper.

“Sofyan would fit in really well with Paris Saint-Germain. Just imagine a midfield with him and Marco Verratti. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, if you are reading these words: you ought to sign him!”

Nordin Amrabat is also a professional football player, currently at AEK Athens, but out with a knee injury.

Fiorentina paid nearly €20m to get Sofyan Amrabat from Hellas Verona in January 2020 and he is under contract until June 2024, although there is an option to extend for one more season.

That all means the asking price is circa €40m and climbing, depending on how the World Cup progresses for him and Morocco.

He was born and raised in the Netherlands, but opted to play for Morocco as a teenager from the Under-17 level.
