Marco Amelia admits he had “a discussion” with Daniele Bonera, but denies any fist-fight on the Milan team bus.
The reports emerged in La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport today, claiming the two teammates had a brawl on the bus on the way back from Monday’s inauguration of a new club HQ, Casa Milan.
“I want to clarify and conclude the story that everyone is talking about and involves me personally,” wrote Amelia on his Facebook page.
“On the bus there was a discussion for the simple reason that I invited the team to come down and salute the fans. Some didn’t want to do it, even if in the end we all came out of the bus, as it was right to do.
“We must avoid writing about things that didn’t happen, but above all for ridiculous motivations, seeing as I have always been pro-Milan, even if I have great respect for Clarence Seedorf both as a man and as a professional.
“I take this opportunity to thank AC Milan and all the people who work at the club for these unforgettable four years, but above all salute and thank the Rossoneri fans who never held back from supporting the team even in the most difficult moments.”
Amelia has not been offered a new contract and will leave San Siro this summer.
