Amelia: ‘Ibra from another planet’

Marco Amelia says Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic “is from another planet” and unduly punished with a three-match ban.

The striker was suspended after swearing at an assistant referee, although he claimed he had been muttering to himself in anger for losing the ball.

“We've seen top players do much worse,” noted goalkeeper Amelia on Sky Sport Italia.

“They could've turned a blind eye or given him only a one-game ban, especially at this moment in which champions have to entertain the public.

“They could've turned a blind eye or given him only a one-game ban, especially at this moment in which champions have to entertain the public.

“Ibra is from another planet and proved it against Palermo in the Coppa Italia last night, taking five opponents with him to free up Urby Emanuelson for the goal.”

As the appeal against the ban was rejected, Ibrahimovic is out of the Serie A trip to Brescia on Saturday.

“This weekend could be the decisive one if the other results go our way,” continued Amelia.

“However, I know what it's like to be in a team desperate to escape relegation, so we must be even more fired up in Brescia, aware our psychological approach will be crucial.

“If we are able to manage the Double of Scudetto and Coppa Italia in Massimiliano Allegri's first year on the bench, then it'd be a great achievement for Milan.”
