Departing Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia admits he expected more from his four-year tenure at San Siro.

The 32-year-old is leaving the Rossoneri, with the club having opted against renewing his contract, and is set to become a free agent.
Speaking to Tuttosport today, the Italian shot-stopper said he would have liked to have made more first-team appearances but denied he had fallen out with former Coach Max Allegri.
“I would have expected more from these four years at Milan,” Amelia said. “Maybe I would have wanted a little more continuity like last year when Abbiati wasn’t at his best and I played ten matches in a row.
“Then Allegri preferred Abbiati, but it’s not true that I fell out with the Coach. He made other decisions and I always put the wellbeing of the team before my own.”
Amelia then discussed his first couple of seasons with the Rossoneri, claiming that a dressing room row was the reason his side lost the Scudetto during his second year at San Siro.
“In four years a lot of things have happened. In the first year we started with some unknown players, but then with Ibrahimovic and Robinho the team became strong.
“In the second year we lost the Scudetto when we played Arsenal. There was a spat between the team and the Coach because the boss put two goalkeepers on the bench out of fear of sendings off.”
Finally, the goalkeeper assessed the effect of the still-current Milan Coach Clerence Seedorf since his appointment in January.
“Seedorf radically changed the way things were done and that might have destabilised the group. Relationships grew day by day.
“Seedorf is an intelligent person, the problems were because of the team. The players were individuals and not a group.
“He also learned that issues within the dressing room didn’t remain within in it – that should not happen.
“At least on a human level, I was able to offer something. I’m glad of the relationship I had with Galliani and also the backing of the fans.”
