Key Milan duo Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez will not take part in tonight’s game against Empoli but former midfielder Massimo Ambrosini is not too concerned.

The Rossoneri lost the two Frenchmen during the international break to injuries, with the former out for at least a month and the latter sidelined for a number of weeks. Stefano Pioli has had to tinker with his squad a little ahead of a busy six-week period, bringing in backup shot stopper Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Speaking in the DAZN studio, Ambrosini discussed Milan’s absences and their chances of success ahead of tonight’s game against Empoli.

“These are the two positions where the quality of the alternatives is lower. But let’s not forget that Milan won a Scudetto last year despite the many absences.

“The strength is the squad. And then Tatarusanu saved a penalty in the derby. The system of play helps to make up for absences, which is not the case at Inter.”

Other Rossoneri players sidelined with injuries are Alessandro Florenzi, Junior Messias, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Divock Origi, thrusting the team into a slight injury crisis.

Tonight’s game against Empoli is the first of 12 for Milan between now and the World Cup break, so Pioli will be praying for the team to avoid losing any more players in the coming weeks.
